I was in the middle of graduate school when I wrote this piece. At the time, I was enamored with Steve Reich's woodwind octet and with minimalism in general. My intention was to always keep the timbres changing (morphing and evolving)

Fantasy #1 for String Sextet
11' 14"
2025
2 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos
More
The only reason why I wrote this piece is because Brahms wrote two string sextets. One at the beginning of his career and the other towards the end of his life.
His first string sextet is my personal favorite. He wrote it to try and make amends to his ex fiancé whom he had just broken off the engagement with. His first string sextet is remarkable and quite beautiful. Now I wrote my string sextet not to mimic Brhams but to try and make it beautiful music.
